Ethics, Oversight and Accountability

Doug built his reputation by holding governments and politicians accountable. He worked for 35 years as a journalist, with 14 of them working at the Editorial Board of The Philadelphia Inquirer. He will take the same commitment to ethics, oversight and accountability with him to Congress.

Doug rejects the system of “politics as usual” that rewards the powerful while leaving so many Americans high and dry. He believes in tough ethics rules that ensure politicians are held accountable directly to voters—not special interests behind closed doors. He’ll bring his lifelong emphasis on openness and honesty with him to Washington and make our voices heard.

In Congress, Doug will work to strengthen ethics rules, increase transparency, close tax loopholes and reform government procurement procedures that too often reward the best lobbyists, not the best interests of Pennsylvania or the nation. Doug also supports efforts to make Congress more transparent by putting government data—including information on pork-barrel projects—online for all Americans to see.
