Ardmore, PA -- Today Pike for Congress is announcing a key Montgomery County Democratic endorsement in the race for U.S. Congress in the 6th District of Pennsylvania: State Representative Mike Gerber.
"I am honored to have Representative Gerber standing with me in my campaign to represent the 6th District," said Doug Pike, the Democratic candidate for U.S. House in Pennsylvania's 6th Congressional District. "I look forward to working with him in the coming years."
State Representative Gerber is the Chairman of the Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee, the campaign arm of the House Democrats. In addition, he is the Chairman of the Southeast Delegation in the Democratic Caucus, the Public Transportation Subcommittee, and the Energy Subcommittee.
In January of this year, Gerber was unanimously elected as the Treasurer of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC). The DLCC works to win state legislative seats and chambers for the national Democratic Party.
Doug Pike served on the Editorial Board of The Philadelphia Inquirer for 14 years and he served as the chairman of the board at a hospital and nursing care facility for 10 years. Previously, Pike served as a Special Assistant and Speechwriter for U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas. In 1971, Pike graduated with honors from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He lives in Montgomery County.
The 6th District encompasses parts of Berks, Chester, Lehigh, and Montgomery Counties.
